At a press conference on Friday, Falleur was introduced as the new head coach at Northside High School in Fort Smith, Ark., where he played and graduated from in 1980.
The Wildcats went 6-4 during Falleur's first year in 2011 and 4-6 this past season. In 22 years of being a head coach in Georgia, Falleur has a 152-80 overall record and took Burke County to the state championship game in 1997. He also took Tucker to the state semifinals in 1994. Falleur has coached at Tucker, Burke County, Elbert County and Northwest Whitfield to go along with his two seasons at Villa Rica.
Falleur applied for the Northside job the last time the position was open 11 years ago when the position was given to Darrell Henry. Once Henry stepped down in November, Fort Smith Public Schools Athletics Director Jim Rowland contacted Falleur with the position again available. Rowland ultimately chose Falleur over eight other finalists.
At the press conference, Falleur described becoming Northside's football coach as a lifelong dream and had attended Northside basketball games and traveled to Fort Smith regularly during his time in Georgia, according to The Southwest Times Record in Fort Smith.
The Northside football program has won 15 state titles, with the last one coming in 1999. This past season, the Grizzles went 3-7 and missed the playoffs.
Falleur did not return multiple phone calls from The Times-Georgian over the past several days.
