The golf course clubhouse in a Villa Rica neighborhood is expected to be a total loss after a fire Tuesday night, fire investigators said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was contained entirely at the clubhouse of the The Frog golf course at The Georgian subdivision near Villa Rica in Paulding County. The cause of the fire was not known by Wednesday afternoon, Paulding County fire Deputy Chief Joey Pelfrey said.

“It’s tough to say how long it will take to define exactly what caused the fire, but it usually takes a day or two,” Pelfrey said.

The call came in to the county’s 911 dispatch by a passerby shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday night.Once firefighters arrived, the fire was fully involved, but responders were able to contain the fire so that it did not spread to any of the surrounding grounds.

The Georgian, developed by Cousins Neighborhoods, is a 1,400-home community adjacent to the 18-hole golf course, The Frog, which is open to the public.

Pelfrey said it was the first time the fire department had ever been called to the golf course. The clubhouse included a kitchen and apparel store and was often used for events.

A representative from The Frog’s business office said the course was completely unharmed and was open for business Wednesday, with several golfers playing rounds.Firefighters are expected to remain on the scene for the next few days to investigate the origin of the fire, Pelfrey said.
