Villa Rica police located a missing woman and found her safe at around 11:00 p.m. last night after responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle.

Officer Clark Cleveland responded to the reports on Broad Leaf Ct. in Villa Rica. Upon looking, he discovered 76-year-old Jessie Lee Kelly sleeping in the car.

After investigating, Cleveland found that a Mattie's Call had been issued for the woman out of Columbus, Ga.

The woman is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and dementia and did not know where she was.

"Everyone at the police department is very happy that Ms. Kelly was okay," said VRPD Captain Keith Shaddix. "Officer Cleveland did a great job in recognizing the signs of her illness and working to identify her."

Kelly was checked by Douglas County EMS workers and found to be in good health. She was then taken to the police department to wait for the arrival of relatives.
